THE CUSTOMER DATA CHALLENGE

Every customer brings different data. Engineering absorbs the variation.

The problem

Enterprise customers rarely arrive with the same systems, fields or formats. Customer onboarding and recurring integrations end up requiring custom imports, mappings, validation rules, scripts and synchronization logic. As the customer base grows, integration work competes with the product roadmap and creates an increasing number of exceptions to maintain.

  • Customer-specific integrations consume engineering capacity
  • Data onboarding delays implementation and time-to-value
  • Pipelines and exceptions accumulate as the customer base grows

How Dataprep helps

Move recurring customer data operations into visible, controlled workflows. Use Dataprep to model ingestion, mapping, transformation, validation and delivery outside the core application code, while adapting each workflow to the systems and data requirements of the customer.

  • Standardize recurring onboarding and integration patterns
  • Adapt mappings and validation rules to each customer
  • Automate recurring execution and monitor every run

PRODUCT & DELIVERY IMPACT

Scale customer integrations without scaling custom engineering

Accelerate customer onboarding

Move recurring imports, mappings and validations into controlled workflows so customer data becomes usable sooner.

Keep engineering focused on the product

Handle repeatable customer data operations outside core application development and reserve engineering for product-specific requirements.

Reduce integration debt

Make customer data workflows visible and maintainable instead of accumulating isolated scripts, pipelines and exceptions.

COMMON CUSTOMER DATA WORKFLOWS

Standardize data processes that grow with your customer base

Customer data onboarding

Import, map and validate the files and systems each new customer brings before loading data into your product.

Example workflow

SFTP / files + API → map → validate → product

Recurring customer synchronization

Automate recurring data exchange with customer ERP, CRM, databases or APIs after onboarding.

Example workflow

Customer systems → transform → validate → product API / database

Analytics-ready customer data

Prepare and validate customer data before it reaches embedded analytics, portals or another BI layer.

Example workflow

Customer data → normalize → validate → analytics dataset

Customer exports & data delivery

Deliver prepared data back to customer systems through supported destinations instead of building another bespoke export.

Example workflow

Product data → transform → validate → API / SFTP / database

EXAMPLE WORKFLOW

Automate recurring customer data synchronization

Customer systems and formats vary, but the workflow does not have to live in custom application code. Dataprep lets you connect the required sources, apply customer-specific mapping and validation rules and deliver prepared data to your product.

Example workflow

Adapt the workflow to each customer environment

    • Scheduled trigger
  1. Sources
    • Customer API
    • SFTP files
    • Customer database
    • Merge
    • Map fields
    • Validate
    • Product API

WHERE DATAPREP FITS

Built for recurring customer data operations that should not become product-specific code

Dataprep fits well when…

  • Customer onboarding or product usage requires importing, transforming or delivering B2B customer data
  • Similar integration patterns repeat while fields, formats or systems vary between customers
  • Engineering or Professional Services spends significant time on mappings, imports and synchronization logic
  • Customer integrations create backlog or delay onboarding
  • Recurring workflows need validation, automation and execution visibility
  • The process can be handled mainly with Dataprep's available connectivity, transformation and automation capabilities

Not designed for…

  • Products that do not exchange or process customer data
  • One-off data imports with no recurring integration or operational workflow
  • Ultra-low-latency or high-frequency streaming as the primary requirement
  • Integrations that depend mainly on a unique customer-specific connector with little potential for reuse
  • Product business logic that belongs inside the application's core transactional code
  • Use cases that depend mainly on capabilities outside Dataprep's current technical scope

Questions about Dataprep for software companies and ISVs

How Dataprep supports customer data onboarding, integration and delivery.

Can Dataprep replace custom integration code in our product?

Yes, for workflows that Dataprep can model with its available connectivity, transformation, validation and automation capabilities. It can replace recurring customer data processes currently implemented as custom scripts or pipelines, while product-specific logic can remain in your application code. Dataprep can also coexist with your existing integration architecture when that is the better fit.

Can we adapt workflows to different customer formats and systems?

Yes. Each workflow can be configured around the sources, mappings, transformations, validation rules and destinations required by the customer. The goal is to standardize the recurring pattern while keeping the workflow adaptable to each environment.

Can Dataprep validate customer data before it reaches our product?

Yes. Validation steps can be included in the workflow so incoming data can be checked and prepared before it is delivered to downstream systems or your application.

Which customer systems can Dataprep connect to?

Dataprep supports databases, CSV, Excel and JSON files, Google Spreadsheets, FTP/SFTP, REST APIs, OData, S3 and S3-compatible storage and other available connectors. The Integrations page contains the current catalog and the Source and Destination roles supported by each integration.

Can Dataprep deliver data back to our customers or to our application?

Yes. Workflows can deliver prepared data through supported Destination connectors such as databases, files, REST APIs, FTP/SFTP and compatible storage services. The exact delivery method depends on the destination system.

Can Dataprep work with Biuwer Analytics or another analytics platform?

Yes. Biuwer Dataprep and Biuwer Analytics can be used independently. Dataprep can prepare customer data for Biuwer Analytics, an existing embedded analytics solution, another BI platform or another supported destination.

Can Dataprep run on-premise or inside our infrastructure?

Yes. Dataprep can run in the cloud or on-premise. It also supports cloud workers and local workers, so workflows can process data inside the customer's own infrastructure when required.
